I was just looking over flexta.co.uk and their SMS text application for Estate Agents caught my eye. It's called PropertySMS. Thought I'd give it a quick plug.
Estate agents signing up to the service are given their own keyword on a shortcode, eg. PROPERTY. Each client property is assigned a unique reference code that can be printed alongside news ads, window info or the 'for sale' boards.
House-hunters can request information anytime and anywhere including: walking past a house that is for sale; reading a newspaper whilst on the train; or browsing an Estate Agents window late at night.
Now, when Michelle and I were house hunting three years ago, we much preferred driving around the areas in which we wanted to live, rather than trawling through newspapers. How handy would that have been if the 'For Sale' boards featured a small sign reading "Text PROPERTY XYZ to 60066". Really useful if the rebound text including the price, number of rooms, whether there was a chain.
From the estate agents perspective, they'd have my mobile number and a clear indication of where and what I wanted to buy. A jolly good idea, without a doubt.
