MobileVerbs Inc. (www.mobileverbs.com), a provider of on-demand Mobile Marketing Platform, has reached an agreement with Zee TV USA Inc. (www.zeetvusa.com), a "flagship" ethnic entertainment channel, to enable premium SMS voting for upcoming programs.

The MobileVerbs service will allow the audience to cast their vote for their favorite artist by simply sending in a SMS message.

"We are excited about the opportunity to leverage the most innovative mobile marketing solution from MobileVerbs," says Jaideep Balial, Vice President and Head of Programming at Zee TV USA.

Mobikade has launched a FREE SMS text service in the UK. Registered users (it's free to join) can send SMS text messages via their web site at no cost.

What I really like about this free SMS text service is there's no login procedure. Once you're registered, you simply visit a web page and enter your Mobikade ID number along with your message and the recipient mobile numbers. Then hit send. Nice!

Last week Google applied to patent one of the cornerstones of mobile commerce - billing by SMS. Details of the invention, entitled "Text message payment", are scant in the application that was published on Thursday. But US 2007/0203836 does, however, illustrate the extent of Google's ambitions. It envisages payments for conventional retail shopping (for example at Starbucks or McDonald's), as well as browser-based surfing, and SMS services such as ringtones.

The invention is, according to the application:

A computer-implemented method of effectuating a payment, comprising: receiving at a computer server system a text message from a payor containing a payment request comprising a payment amount sent by a payor device operating independently of the computer server system; debiting a payor account for an amount corresponding to the amount of the payment request; and crediting a payee account that is independent of the computer server system.

Digital Spy reports that Channel 4 are reviewing the SMS Text voting process in the lead up to the new series of Big Brother later this month.

The broadcaster is believed to be discussing the issue with mobile network operators ahead of the show's eighth series, which begins later this month. There are also further rumours that it may axe premium-rate voting from the show, but no decision has yet been made on either.

The gesture could be a way for Channel 4 to win back viewer trust following the claims of mistakes with phone-in competitions featured on its Richard & Judy show.

Nah. They'll go ahead with both premium rate SMS text voting and premium rate telephone voting. They'll just be bending over backwards to make sure they get it right.

I also confident that voting will only be marginally affected by the recent premium rate SMS text / telephone competition fraud we've seen over at GMTV.

Spotted this SMS text story in a regional paper (UK). While looks and personality may always be the ultimate factor in decided who wins, seems someone with a mobile phone, a lot of call credit and durable thumbs can get into the final five.

There are currently 20 girls in the regional finals and the final five will be decided by an SMS text vote. Contestant, Kimberley Wyld, is confident she will be among the last five (to be decided by SMS text vote) - who will be judged on their intelligence and what they want to do with their lives.

"I think I'll get into the top five and have a good chance of winning." says Kimberly.

The votes are still coming in and each model can monitor her tally. Kimberley is currently in the lead and voting ends on May 2.

"At the moment I am watching the votes. I have only got 31 and the others are gradually catching up. I need more votes," Kimberley said.

Each vote costs £1 which goes to the Rainbow Child Foundation, which was set-up by X Factor's Chico and his brother.
