Anam, the leading provider of revenue generating SMS applications, today announced that it has partnered with Telenor, a leading Nordic telecommunications provider and the world's 7th largest telecom operator, to deliver new messaging services that will enhance customer experience by preventing unwanted texts and spam to a user's mobile.
Telenor will deploy Anam's Smart Services Message Centre which will allow the company to easily create and deploy new messaging-based services. Initial implementation will include Anam's SMS Anti-SPAM solution that defends users and the network against SMS spam.
The deal with Telenor highlights the importance that global operators place on this issue. Telenor is one of the fastest growing providers of mobile communications services worldwide. The company's mobile operations cover 12 countries, with more than 143 million mobile subscriptions.
Anam's SMS Anti-SPAM product provides security filtering features that detect scanning, spoofing and spam content and prevent it from reaching a mobile phone; improving the user's experience and protecting the network. The initial deployment will support over 3,000 messages per second being carried and checked by the platform.
"Telenor is always looking to enhance our customers's experience and we understand that SMS is one area which has significant opportunities for the implementation of new services," commented Ingrid Lorange, Vice President Operations at Telenor.
Lorange continued, "The protection and security of our customers and networks is something we take extremely seriously, so SMS Anti-spam was particularly important for us to implement. Alongside the SMS Anti-spam product, in implementing Anam's solution as a whole, we will have a platform for the launch of several messaging based services that we think our customers will be excited about."
Gerry McKenna, CEO of Anam said, "The development of enhanced messaging services through SMS is an important way for mobile operators to improve customer experience and increase revenues at the same time. Telenor is a major, global operator and the fact that we are working together validates our belief that SMS is still a vital revenue stream for mobile operators, so we are excited to be partnering with them to create new messaging services across the Telenor Group."
Anam won the deal with Telenor after a competitive pitch that included some of the most well-known names in the industry. The Anam solution was considered to provide the best technology platform from all the alternatives. Initial deployment of the solution will cover Telenor's subscribers in Denmark and Norway, with the implementation extended to cover Sweden in the near future.
Other services that Anam offers include, SMS Money Transfer to send funds through a text message, targeted mobile advertising and Multi-SIM which acts as a master mobile number amongst devices.
